Hochdonn High Bridge
The Marschbahn line to Westerland crosses the Kiel Canal on a steel structure. From below the trains seem to hang above the water, a short stop that works in any weather.
Hohenhörn Canal Ferry
One of the small ferries across the Kiel Canal, a crossing of just a few minutes. Cyclists reach the far bank dry and save themselves the detour over the bridge.
Eider Barrage
The large coastal defence structure where the Eider meets the North Sea. A path runs across it; when a storm tide builds the gates move, and seals lie out on the sandbanks.
Kiel
