AlpacaCamping 427

A spot in Oetzen, on the eastern edge of the Lüneburger Heide. The listing doesn't reveal much: one night, a friendly host, a region worth the detour. If you need fresh rolls in the morning, you'll find them at the village shop in town — no small thing for a village this size. All around it, the heath. In late summer, it buzzes over the flowering meadows, otherwise it's quiet. It's quite a drive to Pietzmoor and Totengrund, but the landscape in between is already half the adventure.1

Sights in the area1

Pietzmoor

The largest bog in the Lüneburg Heath, near Schneverdingen; a boardwalk leads across the dark water. A drive to the west, but the classic full-day outing.

Im Totengrund

A wide heath valley near Wilsede, all purple in August; reached on foot or by carriage. The spot where the heather blooms at its densest.

Brunsberg

One of the higher rises in the heath near Bispingen, with views over juniper and open ground. A short climb that pays off for the outlook.
