The Hemmelsdorf Lake

The lake was formed after the last ice age (Weichsee ice age), when the channel carved out by glaciers connected with the Baltic Sea and the so-called Hemmelsförde was formed. This fjord was later cut off from the Baltic Sea by the masses of sand eroded from the Brodten shore and shifted westward by the current, creating today's lake

The Schluchsee

Schluchsee was formed by damming an arm of an ancient valley glacier that was blocked at its end by moraine material left behind during times when ice sheets from Scandinavia and North America advanced into this region.[3] As such, it has no direct connection to another body of water, but relies on pumping stations for its supply.[4]
