New at Oma Ernst

Oma Ernst is now your personal camping assistant

You tell her once how you travel. She takes care of the rest: finding the right pitch, handling the booking, keeping all the back-and-forth in one place. The search stays free for everyone and works without an account, just like before.

What Oma can do for you

Everything new is an offer, nothing is a must. Each step is worth it on its own, and at every step you decide for yourself what Oma is allowed to take over for you.

1

Your favorites and your note

Save pitches you like. On the note, Oma writes down what you looked at. With an account both live with her and come along on every device.

2

Your travels

Tell Oma when you want to set off. She sorts your pitches into the nights, and you see at a glance where something is still missing.

3

Your travel profile

Never type the same details into ten forms again. Tell it once, and Oma fills it in for you.

4

Your camping mailbox

All your booking confirmations in one place instead of scattered across five portals and your private inbox.

5

Your key ring

Never memorize portal passwords again. Safely tucked away, and only you hold the key.

Why an account? And why not?

Do I need an account?

No. Search, map and favorites all work without one. You only need an account once you want Oma to remember things for you: your pitches, your note, your travels.

Will I get advertising then?

No. At Oma's, post is something you order. She only writes you what you literally asked for, meaning the sign-in link, your list or a reply. There is no newsletter at Oma's at all.

Another password?

No. You tell Oma where to write, and she sends you the link. That logs you in. No password.

What do you know about me then?

Your email address and whatever you entrust to Oma, nothing else. Deleting takes two clicks any time. For 30 days you can still change your mind, after that everything is gone for good.

What does ‘lies on this iPhone’ mean?

What you keep without an account lies only on the device in your hand. Oma can't see it, and if the device forgets it, it's gone. What lies with Oma is there, no matter what you come with.

What does that mean exactly?

What's new?

Until now you knew Oma Ernst as a search engine for pitches. That stays exactly the same. What's new: you can gradually entrust Oma with more, from a travel profile to a camping mailbox to a key ring. Every one of these steps is voluntary and can be switched off individually.

What stays free?

The search, the map, the pitch details and the hand-off to the platforms all stay free, no account needed. Your favorites, travel profile and camping mailbox don't cost you a thing either. Oma Ernst is a hobby project. Nobody earns anything here, neither from you nor from the platforms.

What are “Your travels”?

A travel is the bracket around your holiday: you tell Oma when you want to set off and who's coming along, and give each night a little spot, from the first idea to a firm yes. That way you can see at a glance which nights are sorted and where something's still missing. What gets booked on which platform is always your call.

Important: Oma only plans together with you. She books nothing and asks no one on her own. Every spot and every status comes from you, and as long as you don't tap “Send” yourself, no message leaves your account.

How does the key ring work?

A separate account and a separate password for every camping portal, what a nuisance. In the key ring you can store your logins. Important, cross my heart: your passwords are encrypted on your own device before they ever reach us. Even we can't read them, only you hold the key. For that there's a separate key ring password, kept apart from your login. There is deliberately no reset: if you lose it, no one can restore your entries, not even us. That's not a flaw, that's the protection.

Who is my contract partner?

Always the campsite or the platform you book with, never Oma Ernst. Oma is the well-connected country woman: she knows the people and brings you together, but she doesn't rent out pitches herself. When Oma fills in a form for you, she does it on your behalf; you always remain the holder of your booking and your portal accounts. So cancellations or questions go straight to the pitch, and Oma then shows you the right contact.

What happens to my data?

As little as possible, as securely as needed. Your data sits on servers in the EU, encrypted in transit and in storage. You only enter what you want to, and you can export everything as a file or delete your account at any time. Key ring entries are additionally encrypted on your device, so no one but you can read them. And should Oma ever handle something for you, you'll see every step in a log.
