Terms of Service
These terms apply to your Bei Oma Ernst account and everything that comes with it — from your travel profile to your keychain. As always, you can use the search without an account. We wrote these rules so you can understand them without a law degree.

1. Scope and provider
These Terms of Service apply to the use of bei-oma-ernst.de, in particular to the free user account (“My area”) and all features connected to it. The provider is:

By creating an account you agree to these terms. Any deviating terms of yours do not apply.
2. What Bei Oma Ernst is — and what it is not
Bei Oma Ernst is a search engine for private camping pitches. We collect offers from various camping platforms in one place and redirect you to the respective platform to book. With an account we also help you with everything around it: favourites, travel profile, trip planning, camping mailbox and keychain.
Important: We are never a party to your booking contract. A contract for a pitch is concluded exclusively between you and the respective host or platform. Please direct any questions about booking, payment, cancellation or the pitch itself to them directly.
The information about the pitches (prices, availability, amenities, images) comes from the source platforms. We take care in presenting it, but cannot guarantee that it is complete and up to date — what the platform shows you when booking is always authoritative.
3. Your account
An account is voluntary and free of charge. We work without passwords: you sign in with your email address and receive a one-time sign-in link. Your account is created with your first sign-in.
- You must be of legal age to create an account.
- Your details must be accurate and relate to yourself. One account per person; the account is not transferable.
- Protect access to your email inbox: anyone who can read your emails can sign in to your account. If you suspect misuse, please contact us immediately.
4. Free of charge — and how we make a living
Using Bei Oma Ernst is free for you — the search as well as the account with all its features. There are no hidden costs.
To keep it that way, we may receive a commission from the camping platforms when a booking is made via our referral. This has no influence on the price you pay.
5. Travel profile and “Your travels”
In your travel profile you can store details (e.g. vehicle, fellow travellers, pets) so you do not have to type them in again for every booking. You are responsible for the accuracy of your details. Only enter other people's data (such as fellow travellers) with their consent.
“Your travels” is a planning tool: you create trips and assign pitches and statuses yourself. A status noted there (such as “booked”) is your own planning or a summary of information from the platform — it does not replace a booking confirmation and does not entitle you to a pitch.
6. Your camping mailbox
With the camping mailbox you get your own camping address (…@post.bei-oma-ernst.de) to collect booking-related mail in one place. The mailbox is intended exclusively for your personal, camping-related communication — it is not a general email mailbox.
- You can only send to selected recipients (campsites, platforms and contacts who have written to you) — Oma does not tolerate spam.
- Generous but fixed volume limits apply to outgoing messages. Bulk mail, advertising and unlawful content are not permitted.
- In case of misuse we may suspend sending or withdraw the camping address.
Email delivery is technically never guaranteed one hundred percent — with us as with any provider. Therefore keep important deadlines (e.g. cancellation deadlines) in view yourself; by default we notify your private email address as soon as something arrives.
7. Your keychain
In the keychain you can store login credentials for camping portals. Your entries are encrypted on your device before they reach us; the keychain password is deliberately separate from your sign-in and cannot be reset by us.
- If you lose your keychain password and your recovery codes, the entries are irretrievably lost — we cannot restore them either. That is not a flaw, it is the protection. Therefore keep your recovery codes safe.
- Only store credentials for your own accounts.
8. When Oma acts on your behalf
Einzelne Funktionen gehen einen Schritt weiter: Besuchst du eine Plattform über Omas Begleitung, führen wir technische Schritte in deinem Auftrag aus — zum Beispiel das Mitlesen der Seiten, die du selbst aufrufst, und das Übernehmen deiner dortigen Buchungen und Nachrichten in deine Reisen und dein Postfach. Deine Zugangsdaten bleiben dabei auf deinem Gerät; unser Server kann sie nicht lesen. Dafür gilt:
- You remain the holder of your platform accounts and the contracting party of your bookings. We only act as your tool — comparable to signing in yourself, just more convenient.
- Every access is logged and visible to you under “What Oma has done”.
- Du kannst die Begleitung je Plattform jederzeit abschalten („Oma soll hier nichts mehr tun“).
- We never carry out steps that cost money (such as submitting a booking) without your explicit confirmation in each individual case.
- We never automatically solve security checks of the platforms (e.g. CAPTCHA or two-factor confirmations) — at such points we hand over to you.
- Retrieved information (e.g. bookings, cancellation deadlines) may be incomplete or outdated. What the platform itself shows is always authoritative.
- Your accounts with the platforms are additionally governed by their own terms.
9. Your obligations
Please use Bei Oma Ernst as intended. In particular, the following are not permitted:
- any unlawful use, in particular sending spam, harassment or malware,
- interfering with the platform's technology, circumventing protective measures and automated scraping of our content,
- using other people's accounts or storing other people's credentials without permission.
In case of violations we may suspend individual features or the account (details in section 11).
10. Availability and further development
We strive for reliable operation but cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability — for example during maintenance or outages.
Bei Oma Ernst is continuously being developed. We may change, extend or discontinue free features. If a feature holding your data is discontinued (e.g. the mailbox), we will announce this with reasonable notice so you can save your data — a complete data export is available in your account at any time.
11. Termination and suspension
You can delete your account at any time without giving reasons — directly under My area. After deletion your account remains blocked for 30 days and is then permanently removed; during this period you can get it back by signing in again.
We may terminate the user relationship with four weeks' notice by email. In case of serious or repeated violations of these terms — in particular misuse of the mailbox — we may also immediately suspend individual features or the account or terminate it for cause. Where reasonable, we will hear you first.
12. Liability
We are liable without limitation in cases of intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act.
In cases of slight negligence we are only liable for the breach of essential contractual obligations (i.e. obligations whose fulfilment makes use possible in the first place and on which you may rely) — and limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this kind of service.
We are not responsible for the content and conduct of the camping platforms and hosts — in particular not for the accuracy of their offers or the fulfilment of your bookings. Nor are we liable for the loss of keychain entries if the keychain password and recovery codes are lost (section 7).
13. Privacy
How we handle your data is explained in our privacy policy. What the individual features mean for you is shown on the page Your personal camping assistant.
14. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms — for example because new features are added or the legal situation changes — we will inform you at least four weeks before they take effect by email to your registered address. If you do not agree with a change, you can delete your account at any time. Changes that would materially shift the contractual balance to your disadvantage will only be made with your explicit consent.
15. Final provisions
German law applies. If you are a consumer habitually resident abroad, mandatory protective provisions of your country of residence remain unaffected.
We are neither obliged nor willing to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board. We prefer to sort things out directly: oma@bei-oma-ernst.de.
Should individual provisions of these terms be invalid, the remainder remains valid. The contract language is German; the English version is provided for convenience only.
