Oldenburg Münsterland

A parking spot in the Oldenburger Münsterland, near Friesoythe. Unspoiled nature all around and hiking trails leading out into the flat countryside. If you like, you can borrow a bike or canoe from your host and spend half a day out exploring. In the morning, mist hangs over the meadows, otherwise it stays quiet out here. It's less than thirty kilometers to Oldenburg, a good forty-five minutes to the North Sea, and half an hour to the Netherlands. If you stay, you don't need much entertainment.1

Sights in the area1

Oldenburg

The old residency town with its palace, palace gardens and compact pedestrian centre; about 26 kilometres away and the obvious town day when the weather turns.

North Sea coast

It is a good forty minutes by car to the Wadden Sea; the coast with its dikes makes for a rewarding day trip when the sun is out.

Pilsum Lighthouse

The small yellow-and-red tower behind the dike in East Frisia, famous from the Otto film; a target you can fold into a day at the coast.
