Campsite in Boxberg/Oberlausitz

A tent site next to the horse paddock, in the Lausitz Biosphere Reserve near Boxberg/Oberlausitz. There are no neighbors. In the evening, crickets start chirping, at night deer roam across the meadows, and if you're lucky, you'll spot them too. There are no sanitary facilities so far; if needed, the toilet in the house is available. There's not much more than that here. It's about 65 kilometers to Dresden with the Fürstenzug and the Blaues Wunder bridge. In the morning, it smells like horse.1

Upper Lusatian Heath and Pond Landscape

A biosphere reserve of old carp ponds, pine woods and reed belts. The circular paths around the ponds are flat enough to cycle without a single climb.

Fürstenzug in Dresden

The long tiled frieze on the palace wall shows Saxony's rulers on horseback. About 65 kilometres away, good for a day in the city.

Senftenberger See Viewing Tower

A tower above the Lusatian lake chain, formed out of old opencast mining land. From up there it becomes clear how flat and watery this region is.
