Between Vineyards and Rhine Views
A meadow on the edge of Ingelheim am Rhein, high up in the vineyards, overlooking the Rhine valley. The site belongs to a winery a few hundred meters away. Free choice of pitch, not much in the way of activities. Four hens live between the vines, no rooster. Plus a small fire pit and a covered table. No supply or disposal facilities – you bring your own water and toilet. In the evening, the sun sets over the vineyards, and a glass of wine is available at the winery. It's twelve kilometers to Mainz.1

Mainz
The capital of Rhineland-Palatinate, around twelve kilometres away, with its cathedral and the Gutenberg Museum in the old town. The classic rainy-day trip when the vineyards are too wet.
Rheinstein Castle
Above the Rhine near Bingen, the rebuilt castle clings to the rock, looking down the narrow valley. A short outing for anyone who likes a bit of knights' romance and a view.
Rhenish Hesse Vineyards
Hiking and cycling paths run straight through the hills and rows of vines of Rhenish Hesse. Short loops for the evening, longer tours down towards the Rhine.
