At 687 metres the highest peak in the Palatinate. From the lookout tower the view runs far across the Nordpfalz, a target for half a day's hike.
Rhine castles near Bingen
Above the Rhine near Bingen stand Burg Rheinstein and Reichenstein, plus the steep climb out of the Morgenbach valley; a day trip toward Mainz, a good 37 kilometres away.
Rheinhessen and Nahe
The Rheinhessen vineyards start a few kilometres north, the Nahe region adjoins to the west; bike routes through the vines without much climbing.
