AlpacaCamping 2256
A pitch near Simmern, some seven kilometres from Koblenz. Quietly situated, with views across the countryside — the host reveals little more, and so there's nothing more to say here. Things are peaceful. The ground accommodates both tents and motorhomes. Those who get up early in the morning have the surroundings to themselves. Koblenz is just a few minutes away, as is the Deutsches Eck, where the Moselle flows into the Rhine. From there, the Rhine cycle route leads upstream; those who wish can turn off into the Lahn Valley.1

Sights in the area1
Deutsches Eck, Koblenz
The headland where the Mosel flows into the Rhine, crowned by the massive equestrian statue of Kaiser Wilhelm. The classic first stop when exploring Koblenz on foot.
Lahn Valley
The Lahn's side valley runs green and quieter than the Rhine bank inland. A good change of scene for hiking or an unhurried paddle.
Thurant Castle
The twin-towered castle above the Mosel near Alken, well preserved and still lived in. The climb pays off with a view over the vineyards; an afternoon is enough.
