A pitch near Sulzfeld am Main, in the heart of Franconian wine country. Power is available, otherwise you're self-sufficient. Bring your own water and supplies. Registration was straightforward, even on the hosts' day off. The pitch is clean, every corner well-maintained. In the morning it smells of damp grass between the vines. It's about 16 kilometers to Würzburg, along the Main. Afternoons: silence between the vineyards.1

Würzburg
The Würzburg Residence with Tiepolo's ceiling fresco, plus the Marienberg fortress above the Main. About 16 kilometres away, the go-to for a rainy day under a roof.
Main cycle path
The path follows the Main through the wine villages, mostly flat and close to the water. From Sulzfeld it makes an easy loop past the neighbouring hamlets.
Franconian wine country
The slopes along the Main grow mainly Silvaner. In autumn the tractors work the rows — a landscape best explored on foot.
