AlpacaCamping 372
A stopover in Beilstein, for many just a waystation on the drive to Lake Constance. Those who stay look up from the square toward the castle above the vineyards. Wine grows all around, the very thing that has shaped this region, and in the evening a glass of it sits on the table. It's about 16 kilometers to Heilbronn, in the other direction the slopes of Weinsberger Tal stretch out. Life here is simple. But the view upward is worth it.1

Hohenbeilstein Castle
The castle with its keep sits above Beilstein, vineyards all around. The short climb pays off with a view across the Weinsberg valley.
Lauffen am Neckar
A little wine town on the river, birthplace of Friedrich Hölderlin. The old-town island and the riverbank make for a slow afternoon.
Heuchelberg Watchtower
An old lookout tower on the ridge of the Heuchelberg. On a clear day the view runs far across the vineyards.
Heilbronn
A Neckar town about 16 kilometres away, with harbours and its own vineyards. The place for shopping and a city day in the rain.
