The Hanseatic city on the Weser is pleasantly manageable in size: from the market square with town hall and Roland, it's just a few steps to the Schnoorviertel and the riverside promenade Schlachte. All around lie Bürgerpark, the expansive Blockland and the Wümmewiesen — flat, water-laced countryside, made for cycling. From here it's not far out into the marshlands and further to the North Sea coast.

Town Hall & Roland

The Weser Renaissance Town Hall and the Roland statue in the market square are jointly a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Bremen Town Musicians

The bronze statue of the donkey, dog, cat, and rooster stands right next to the town hall — touching the donkey's legs is said to bring good luck.

Schnoor Quarter

Bremen's oldest district: narrow alleyways and crooked little houses from the 15th and 16th centuries.

Slaughter

The waterfront promenade along the Weser with beer gardens and landing stages for excursion boats.

Bürgerpark

Over 200 hectares of a 19th-century landscape park, donated by citizens and privately maintained to this day.

Blockland & Wümmewiesen

Vast lowland meadow area right in front of the city — cycle paths on dykes, cows, meadow birds.
