For an excursion, it's worth the trip to Pilsumer Leuchtturm, the yellow-red tower behind the dike. Evenings: flat and wide.1

The yellow-and-red lighthouse behind the dike, famous from the Otto film. The walk out along the dike is worth it in any weather, even with the wind blowing sideways.
Lütetsburg Castle
A moated castle set in one of the largest landscape parks in the north. A shady destination for days when the sun turns too harsh over the open marsh.
Greetsiel
An old fishing village on the dike with its twin windmills and shrimp cutters in the harbour. A bike path runs from here to Pilsum lighthouse, a loop for a long afternoon.
