Go where the asparagus grows

Get to know our 2.4 hectare Heidhorst, the "happy house" in Nienburger Land! Only a few kilometers away from moor and heath, this quiet refuge has been home to happy animals for over three decades: horses, goats, sheep (all with adorable names), as well as dogs and cats - all living together as one big family. Visit us during your vacation if you're looking for peace and quiet; we'll be waiting on the hill overlooking the paddock where the foxes roam at night and the deer in the morning. Feel free to explore the beautiful grounds when you visit - there is so much natural beauty here, like bats flying overhead day and night1

What Hinterland writes

Sights in the area1

Steinhuder Meer

Lower Saxony's largest lake, about 30 kilometres away: shallow water, fishing boats, a cycle path around the shore. The day trip for when the farm gets too quiet.

Uchte moor and moor railway

The narrow-gauge railway runs through the moor, and the exhibition holds Mora, the bog body found here. An afternoon is enough, and rain barely matters.

Münchehagen Dinosaur Park

Real dinosaur trackways in the open-air grounds, plus life-size reconstructions, around 20 kilometres away. Reliably fills a whole day with children.

Weser Cycle Route

The long-distance route follows the Weser northwards; around Nienburg a flat day stage is easy to cut out. No climbing involved at all.
