A forest meadow above the Heidburg near Elzach, roughly one hectare at the forest's edge with views over the Elztal. The sun rises opposite in the morning, otherwise just greenery and a small stream. Roof tents, tents and smaller caravans fit here; large motorhomes can't make it around the last two hundred metres of the bend. Every now and then the donkeys Pearl and Filou stop by; anyone preferring to be alone can have the host close the gate to the farm. Everything you need is down at the farm, from spring water to the campfire area. Evenings: Elztal, nothing but green.1

The Gutach drops around 160 metres over several tiers; the wide path alongside works in any weather, easy with children too.

Freiburg's local mountain with a cable car and summit tower; on clear days you can see to the Vosges, a good half-day from the meadow.
Freiburg im Breisgau
The Breisgau city with its minster and Bächle, about 33 km away; the rainy-day classic with an old town and covered lanes.
