The Black Forest is a low mountain range in the southwest of Baden-Württemberg and Germany's largest contiguous low mountain range. It extends for around 160 kilometers along the Upper Rhine Plain, from which it rises steeply; the highest peak is Feldberg. The region is named after its dense, dark coniferous forests, interspersed with deeply cut valleys, waterfalls and lakes such as Titisee and Schluchsee. For outdoor activities, the Black Forest is an extensive hiking area with long-distance trails and, in the south, also offers easy winter sports.

Schluchsee - east shore

Schluchsee is a beautiful lake in the heart of the Black Forest. It is 7.5 kilometers long and one of the largest lakes in Germany. You can swim here all year round, because the water temperature stays around 12 degrees Celsius even on hot summer days!
