Pitch on organic meadow orchard

A biofarm near Schöppingen, at the foot of the Baumberge. Colorful Bentheim pigs graze in the pastures, with Bresse chickens running among them. You hear them in the morning, long before anything else stirs. The pitch is part of an active farm, and the Münsterland countryside around it remains flat and peaceful. The farm shop with their own products opens on Fridays and Saturdays. It's about 30 kilometers to Münster, so a manageable drive to Aasee. In the evening: grunting from the barn.1

Sights in the area1

Baumberge Hills

The ridge at whose foot the farm sits, at almost 190 metres the highest ground in the Münsterland. Old sandstone quarries, wide views across the parkland, enough for half a day.

Aasee Münster

The lake at the edge of central Münster, around 30 kilometres away. Shore paths, pedal boats and a short walk into the old town — the city day when it rains on the farm.

Rieselfelder Münster

Former sewage irrigation fields, now wetland with observation towers. In spring and autumn migrating birds stop here in their thousands; with binoculars an hour turns into a morning.
