Natural camping in the countryside
A small farm in Staffhorst, between Bremen and Hanover, far out in the flatlands. The camping meadow is at the back of the property, where apart from a few chickens there's nobody around; sometimes the farm dogs trot by and keep an eye on things. If you like, you can use the sauna and hot tub for a small fee. All around are bathing lakes and the Weser cycle path; it's not far to Nienburg or Steinhuder Meer. It's a good hour and a half to the North Sea. In the evenings: just the chickens.1

Sights in the area1
Steinhuder Meer
The largest lake in north-west Germany, shallow and breezy, popular with windsurfers; lidos and the tiny island fort of Wilhelmstein fill a whole day out.
Weser Cycle Path
The route runs almost level along the Weser through the Mittelweser area; a day's stage reaches Nienburg with its old town by the river.
Bremen
The Hanseatic city about 48 km away, with St Petri Cathedral and the ferry from Lemwerder to Vegesack; the city day when the countryside gets too quiet.
