Campground in the green
A campsite near Wietzendorf, right in the heart of Lüneburger Heide. The forest begins less than a thousand metres away, and in the mornings it smells of pine and damp sand. The bathing lake is just under two kilometres away, perfect for a walk before breakfast. Heidepark Soltau is a quarter of an hour's drive away, but you won't notice it from the meadow. The site is simple: a space for pitching tents, nothing more is promised. In the evenings, there's just the rustling of the pines.1

Pietzmoor
The largest bog in the Lüneburg Heath near Schneverdingen. A boardwalk crosses black water and cotton grass; in autumn the moor grass turns rust-red.
Totengrund
A heather valley ringed by hills near Wilsede. In late August the whole basin stands in purple; the early morning without hikers is worth it.
Brunsberg
A sandy lookout hill above the heath, with a view far across the land on clear days. A short walk for the afternoon.
Heidepark Soltau
Large amusement park with roller coasters, a quarter of an hour from the site. The day trip for rain or restless kids.
