Campsite in Buchholz (Westerwald)
A former horse pasture on the edge of Buchholz in the Westerwald, sheltered location. It's designed for one night: cyclists and hikers stop here. Sometimes someone with a horse or a single motorhome. You can use the toilet and shower, but there isn't much more comfort than that. It's about 20 kilometers to Bonn and the Rhine. Rolls are available 1.4 kilometers further on. Milk and eggs are available at the farm. Mornings: birdsong over the meadow.1

Sieg floodplains
Wet meadows and old river arms along the Sieg just outside Bonn. Flat paths, hardly a climb, good for a long day on the bike with binoculars.
Rodderberg
An extinct volcano above the Rhine valley near Bonn; from the crater rim you look out over the river and the Siebengebirge. The climb takes under an hour.
