Campsite in Bismark (Altmark)

A meadow in the garden in Bismark, surrounded by hedges, with tall trees that cast shade for half the day. Water comes from the garden tap – you shouldn't drink it; showers are taken in the open air. There's a dry toilet available, and if the hosts are home, you're welcome to use the house. That's all there is to it. In return, behind the hedges begins the Altmark: the Uenglinger Tor in Stendal, the Elbe ferry near Räbel. In the evenings you hear little but the wind in the branches.1

What 1NITE TENT writes

Sights in the area1

Uenglinger Tor

Stendal's brick Gothic town gate, one of the most elaborate in the Altmark. A short stop that pairs well with a walk through the old town.

Räbel Ferry

A small ferry across the Elbe near Werben. For cyclists on the Elbe Cycle Route it is the shortcut to the far bank instead of a detour to the next bridge.

Magdeburg

About 59 kilometres away, with its cathedral and the lift bridge over the Elbe. The fallback for days when the Altmark gets too quiet.
