Camping with lake view at Seeba

Seeba belongs to Rhönblick, a small village in the Herpf Valley below the Gebaberg. The pitches are situated directly on the shore of the natural pond, framed by the slopes of the mountain. In the morning, mist lies over the water. Later, children clatter across the playground by the lake, and there are plenty of benches to sit on. Fishing is only permitted with a license; day passes are issued by the local angling club. From the old village center with its fortified church and linden square, hiking trails lead into the Rhön Biosphere Reserve, both short and long routes. To Erfurt: 68 kilometers.1

Sights in the area1

Rhön Biosphere Reserve

A UNESCO-protected upland landscape of basalt domes and open pasture; the trails from the village lead straight into it, short evening loops included.

Gebaberg

The hill above the Herpftal valley, with Seeba at its foot. Its slopes frame the pond and put some climbing into the first stretch of any walk.

Erfurt

Thuringia's state capital, about 68 kilometres away: old town with the Krämerbrücke, and the Severikirche beside the cathedral. The fallback for long rainy spells.
