Camping right in the heart of wine country
A wine and fruit orchard on the outskirts of Bergtheim, just under a hectare in size. The pitches are located among the fruit trees, sometimes on grass, sometimes on gravel, with or without electric hookups. There are no street lights here, so on clear nights the stars shine above the vineyards. Chilled wine can be picked up from the wine shop, or outside opening hours from the cooler at the sanitary facilities. Camping is not permitted. The baroque palace with Tiepolo's ceiling fresco is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Reachable hourly from Bergtheim station, about sixteen kilometres away.
Marienberg Fortress
The fortress sits above the Main, surrounded by vineyards. The climb pays off with a view over the old town and the Old Main Bridge.
Schweinfurt on the Main
In the other direction the train runs hourly to Schweinfurt. A fallback when Würzburg fills up on weekends.
Franconian wine country
The vineyards of Franconia spread out around Bergtheim. The Main cycle path near Würzburg stays flat, good for a long day in the saddle.
