Camping at Brennerwirt
An organic farm near Wangen im Allgäu, where pitches are partly on asphalt and gravel, partly in the orchard among the trees. The farm has organic cattle, chickens, and a large distillery. Breitachklamm gorge
A deep rock gorge near Oberstdorf, crossed by the Zwingsteg footbridge. Between the wet walls it stays cool and shady, the region's classic rainy-day trip.
Forggensee lake
The largest reservoir in the Allgäu, dammed near Füssen. A flat loop trail runs along the shore, and excursion boats head out in summer.
Buchenegg Waterfalls
Two falls drop into a plunge pool near Oberstaufen, a swimming spot for the brave. The walk over root-laced paths pays off most on hot days.
