Odernheim am Glan

Camping at Bannmühle - Nordpfälzer Bergland

An organic farm on the outskirts of Odernheim am Glan, with the small river Glan flowing directly past the site. Beyond it, Disibodenberg. Campers and tents find space on the farm, while the farm shop is stocked with organic produce from the farm itself and other local suppliers. Fresh rolls are available from the village bakery, but what remains most memorable from the day is the sound of the Glan flowing by. The Glan-Blies cycle path runs right past, along with the old railway line towards Staudernheim.1

Sights in the area1

Disibodenberg

The wooded cone above the Glan carries the ruins of a monastery where Hildegard of Bingen spent her early years; the climb rewards you with a view across the valley.

Draisine line Altenglan–Staudernheim

On the disused railway, day-trippers pedal their own handcar; the flat valley floor makes the ride doable even with children.

Glan valley view near St. Julian

Near St. Julian the view opens wide across the Glan valley, a short stop for clear days, when the heights of the Nordpfälzer Bergland reach to the horizon.
