Stemwede

Camping at the old pancake baker

A farm in Stemwede, directly on the Stemweder Berg, between the Weser and Dümmer See. One to three campers are parked far enough apart on the large meadow so that everyone has their peace and quiet. The farm has horses and donkeys, plus chickens whose fresh eggs are available at the door. Just a few steps away, and you're in the Berg or in the Diepholzer Moor. In autumn, cranes gather there before flying south. Grilling in the evenings. Bath and shower are in the main house.1

What Hinterland writes

Sights in the area1

Stemweder Berg

Wooded ridge right behind the farm, with marked trails for short walks; the quickest way out into nature, with no drive at all.

Diepholzer Moor

Vast raised bog north of the ridge; in autumn cranes gather here before migrating south — reason enough to come in October.

Dümmer See

Shallow lake reachable on well-built cycle paths from the farm; small beaches and minigolf for an afternoon with the kids.

Osnabrück

The nearest larger town, about 35 km away; old town and museums — the city day when country life needs a change.
