Camping at the Old Caretaker House

A private property on the edge of a village with twenty residents, right next to a field — this is where this campsite in Mölln Mecklenburg is located (not the one in Lauenburg, which is many kilometers away). Space for two tents, no more than that. In the morning, the road maintenance crew from across the way heads out briefly, then it's quiet until harvest time. A large dog, a cat, and two rabbits belong here; perfect order is not really the priority. It's about one kilometer to the lake for swimming and fishing. Firewood is ready, and the summer kitchen serves as shelter when it rains.1

Sights in the area1

Helpter Berg

At around 179 metres the highest point in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, topped by a summit cross; on clear days the view runs far across the fields.

Neustrelitz Harbour

Set on the Zierker See, a starting point for boat trips towards the Müritz; a quiet afternoon for anyone who likes to look from the water.

Mecklenburg Lake District

A chain of lakes and canals with the Müritz at its heart; the swimming alternative when the village lake should be a size larger.
