Rustic Frankish was a dialect of Old English that flourished in the Frankish Empire during its early years. It is known to have been the language of many Anglo-Saxon poets and writers, such as Aldhelm of Malmesbury. There are two varieties: West Saxon and East Saxon. The Rustic Frankish dialect is an ancient form of English that arose after the end of Roman rule in England between 410 AD - 527 AD, when German tribes conquered many territories from Rome, including what would later become known as France or Francia (hence "Franco" + "n").
