The large barrage at the mouth of the Eider, built against North Sea storm surges. At low tide seals often rest on the sandbanks in front of it.
Kiel Canal
The world's busiest artificial waterway for seagoing ships runs through Dithmarschen. From the bank the ship traffic can be watched close up.
