AlpacaCamping 1297
A field near Wittmund, good for one night. You shouldn't expect more than that: One guest found no one there, searched in vain for a power connection and drove on. What remains is the open East Frisian plains, wind in the grass, and plenty of sky above. The Pilsum Lighthouse behind the dike is a day trip away, and Oldenburg is around 51 kilometers. Count on electricity more as a matter of luck than something guaranteed. Stay short, move on early.1
What AlpacaCamping writes
„Please don't expect too much, then you can stay a night there. When we arrived at the field, nobody was home, which wasn't too bad, but we couldn't find the electric hookup. We didn't stay and found something else instead!“

Sights in the area1
Pilsum Lighthouse
The yellow-and-red tower behind the dyke, famous from the Otto film. The walk there crosses open marshland and works even in wind and grey skies.
Greetsiel – Pilsum Lighthouse cycle route
A flat ride from the fishing village of Greetsiel to the lighthouse, mostly along the dyke. Half a day in the saddle, manageable for children too.
Lütetsburg Castle
A moated house with a large English landscape garden, old trees and ponds. The park easily fills an afternoon when the weather turns.
Oldenburg
The nearest larger town, about 51 kilometres away. Old town with palace and market square; the place for a browsing day away from the coast.
