AlpacaCamping 1089

A small pitching spot right in the middle of a horse farm in Hirschberg an der Bergstraße. The welcome is friendly, and you choose your own pitch. There isn't much selection to choose from. In return, you hear the farm: horses at night, the clatter of buckets in the morning. It's about eleven kilometres to Heidelberg. Further north, the Bergstraße stretches along with Heppenheim and Felsberg at the edge of the Odenwald. In the evening: the smell of hay.1

What AlpacaCamping writes

Sights in the area1

Heidelberg

Castle above the Neckar, the old town and the Alte Brücke below. About eleven kilometres away and a day that works in the rain, too.

Heppenheim old town

Half-timbered lanes around the market square on the Hessische Bergstraße, vineyards all around. An afternoon is enough to walk it all.

Auerbach Castle

Ruined castle above Bensheim with two towers you can climb. From the top the Rhine plain opens up, on clear days as far as the Palatinate Forest.

Felsberg

Odenwald hill with the Felsenmeer, a slope of granite boulders left by the ice age. Children clamber about there for hours without any programme.
