East Westphalia-Lippe
Region in the east of North Rhine-Westphalia at the Teutoburg Forest, between Weser Highlands and Lipper Land.
Ostwestfalen-Lippe is a region in the east of North Rhine-Westphalia around the city of Bielefeld. The Teutoburger Wald, a long forested ridge that runs across the region, shapes the landscape; it is home to well-known rock formations such as the Externsteine. Towards the east, the landscape transitions into the Weserbergland and the Weser valley, with the hilly Lipperland in between. Hiking on the ridge trails of the Teutoburger Wald and cycling tours through the valleys define outdoor activities in the region.
