Campground in Fürth
Hi guys! I hope you can join us sometime - feel free to let me know beforehand so we have a chance to prepare! The site is in our backyard and there are plenty of apple trees with fruit hanging ripe for the picking in the summer months, as well as walnut trees nearby that provide delicious nuts year round. There is also an outdoor fire pit that can comfortably seat six or more people. It is paved on both sides, although your feet may get wet if snow falls from the branches above (but that should be unlikely). Our dog seems very friendly, but he won long ago when they were puppies because he doesn't like to dig holes in the ground while playing outside too much; kids seem OK, though please ask first before bringing them along1

Bleiloch Reservoir
Germany's largest reservoir by volume, damming the river Saale; the dam wall is open to walkers and trails follow the shore all the way round.
Höllental valley
A narrow rocky gorge on the Thuringian-Bavarian border with the river Selbitz running through it; a half-day walk for sturdy shoes.
Burgk Castle
A Renaissance castle high above a bend of the Saale, now a museum with a Silbermann organ; the fallback when the weather spoils a day by the water.
Jena
University town 46 kilometres away, framed by limestone slopes; the climb up the Jenzig takes barely an hour and the whole city lies below.
