AlpacaCamping 5103

A parking spot behind the brewery in Zwönitz, with a view of a field. It gets quiet at night, perfect for sleeping. No electricity, self-sufficient camping. The gastronomy venue's toilet can be used during the day until 10 p.m. The operators are welcoming, the spot doesn't promise anything more. The Erzgebirge surrounds the area, with peaks like the Auersberg. Chemnitz is 22 kilometers away, with part of the route along the Chemnitztalradweg cycle path.1

Sights in the area1

Auersberg

One of the highest peaks in the western Ore Mountains, with a lookout tower on the ridge. On a clear day the view stretches into Vogtland and Bohemia, the trip for a cloudless day.

Chemnitz Valley Cycle Path

A cycle path from Chemnitz through the Chemnitz valley, partly running through an old railway tunnel. Flat and shady — the classic for a day on the bike without steep climbs.

Rabenstein Castle

A small castle on the western edge of Chemnitz, with a tower and courtyard. Next to it a wildlife enclosure with lynx and wildcat, good for an afternoon with children.
