AlpacaCamping 430
A farm pitch in Küsten in the Wendland, with Günter. Guests speak of hospitality and a terrace where you can linger through the morning; the facilities are kept clean, and it's quiet all around. Space for tents and motorhomes. Flat countryside by the Elbe stretches in every direction. To Wolfsburg with the Allersee it's about 68 kilometres west, and those heading to the Altmark can cross via the small Elbfähre ferry at Räbel. Mornings filled with birdsong, otherwise peaceful.1

Sights in the area1
Lake Allersee and Autostadt in Wolfsburg
Wolfsburg is about 68 kilometres to the west: people swim and sail on the Allersee, and next door the Autostadt shows off cars and towers of glass. The way out for a rainy day.
Räbel Ferry
At Räbel a small ferry crosses the Elbe over to the Altmark. A slow river crossing instead of a bridge; a detour that pays off for the view across the water.
Uenglinger Gate in Stendal
In Stendal, across the Elbe in the Altmark, stands the Uenglinger Tor, a brick gate from the Hanseatic era. A good start for anyone touring the region's brick Gothic.
