AlpacaCamping 995

Little is documented about the site itself: guests praise the host, but the description doesn't offer much more — and so there's nothing more to report here. Tents and motorhomes are welcome. The surroundings take care of the rest: Arnstein is located in Unterfranken, about 20 kilometers from Würzburg, from the Residenz and the Alte Mainbrücke. Fields and vineyard slopes all around. In summer, it smells of warm straw in the evenings, with crickets chirping late into the night.1

What AlpacaCamping writes

Sights in the area1

Würzburg

About 20 kilometres away, with the Residenz and its Tiepolo ceiling fresco, and Marienberg Fortress above. The day to save for when the weather turns.

Vineyards along the Main

The slopes above the river can be ridden flat along the water. Silvaner comes in the round Bocksbeutel bottle here, often straight from the winemaker.

Spessart

Wooded ridges west of the Main, old beeches, quiet valleys. Trails for half a day, and the forest holds up well in drizzle too.

Aschaffenburg

Johannisburg Palace in red sandstone sits heavily above the Main, with Schöntal park nearby. A day trip west, easy to do by train.
