View into the lovely Allgäu

A farmhouse on a hilltop near Rosshaupten, with the Forggensee lake spread out below, and the Allgäuer Alpen mountain range beyond. On clear days, the royal castles appear as bright dots on the mountainside. From here, hiking, cycling and Nordic walking trails lead directly from your doorstep. After a warm day, you can cool off in one of the bathing lakes. In the morning, mist hangs over the water before the sun reaches the peaks. Otherwise: meadow, wide open space, a farm.1

Sights in the area1

Forggensee

The largest reservoir in the Allgäu, right below the farm. A loop trail for cycling, and in summer boats cross the water.

Royal Castles

Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau sit above the Alpsee; from the farm they show as pale towers on the slope. Come early, the crowds grow through the day.

Breitachklamm gorge

A deep rock gorge with the Zwingsteg footbridge high above the water; the path stays cool and shady even on hot days.

Augsburg

The old Fugger city with water towers and canals, about 81 km away; the trip for a day of poor mountain weather.
