Pitch under the fruit trees

A pitch in the hosts' garden, on the outskirts of Kammerstein. The view stretches far over fields and meadows. In the mornings, you mainly hear larks singing over the meadows. There's not much entertainment on offer. Instead, there's open space. Nothing obstructs the wide horizon, the wind sweeps across the fields. Nuremberg is 22 kilometres away — Kaiserburg and the old town for a rainy day. And in the evening, the sun sets red behind the fields, until the last strip of light is gone.1

Sights in the area1

Nuremberg

The Franconian city about 22 kilometres away: the Imperial Castle above the old town, narrow lanes, the Christkindlesmarkt in Advent. The town day for when the open space at the pitch grows too quiet.

Franconian Lake District

The chain of lakes in the Roth district, grouped around the Rothsee and Brombachsee: sandy beaches, sailing boats, shore paths. The place for hot afternoons when no shade is left in the garden.

Bitterbach Gorge

A narrow gorge in the Franconian Jura east of Nuremberg, shady and cool even in summer. A half-day hike over boardwalks and roots, good in the heat.
