Auhausen

Stay overnight at the pony farm

A parking space in the yard of Auhausen, right by the ponies — at night you can hear them snorting and pawing at the ground. The site is located at the edge of the village, with a princely forest beginning behind it. The farm operates as an encounter farm with the animals, and anyone who wants to can get close to them. Otherwise it's quiet. It's not far to the Nördlinger Ries, where the Daniel rises above the old town and the Ries crater has pressed down the surrounding landscape.1

What VanSite writes

„We offer a pitch in the yard, right next to the ponies. We are on the outskirts of the village and surrounded by the princely forest. As a qualified meeting farm we offer many animal assisted interventions.“

Sights in the area1

Nördlingen Town Wall

Nördlingen is ringed by a completely walkable town wall, one of the few still intact in Germany; the walk along the top shows the round old town from every side.

Der Daniel

The tower of St. George's church in the middle of Nördlingen. Climb the stairs and on a clear day you see the whole Ries crater as a flat hollow in the land.

Ries Crater Museum

Explains the impact that shaped the Nördlinger Ries millions of years ago; the rainy-day classic for anyone who wants to know why the area turned out so round.
