Sonnenhof llamas & alpacas

The llamas and alpacas have a special place in my heart. When I was growing up, we always had one in the house or on the farm to help with kitchen chores, like mowing the lawn or hauling hay bales. Since I was little, this family farm has been such an important part of who I am! You can stand at the edge of their forest (manicured pastures), surrounded by these beautiful creatures just patiently waiting for you to take your perfect selfie before continuing on your exciting hike, which is only about 500 yards from the center of town. This area is right next to Germany's largest national park, the Spessart Forest - so there are plenty more adventures waiting for you once you've explored Llama Land1

What roadsurfer spots writes

Sights in the area1

Spessart

One of Germany's largest unbroken forests, beech and oak to the horizon. It starts right behind the farm, good for a walk without driving anywhere first.

Offenbach am Main

The nearest larger town, about 26 kilometres away. The German Leather Museum collects bags, trunks and shoes from three centuries and saves the odd rainy day.

Hanau

Birthplace of the Brothers Grimm, with their national monument on the market square and Philippsruhe Palace and park by the Main. An afternoon for when the forest is too wet.
