Sights in the area1

Nördlingen town wall

Nördlingen is still fully encircled by a walkable town wall. The loop along the covered rampart takes about an hour and shows the old town from above.

The Daniel

The tower of St George's church, known to locals simply as Daniel. From the viewing gallery the crater rim reads as a flat ring around the town, clearer than on any map.

Ries Crater Museum

Tells how a meteorite struck the Ries some 15 million years ago; the collection includes lunar rock from the Apollo missions. The rainy-day standby of the area.
