Nature Moves You - Campground on Rursee

Thirteen pitches above Woffelsbacher Bucht, slightly elevated, overlooking Rursee. Cars stay outside. The site remains car-free. The ground beneath the camper is unpaved, the access road is paved; there's space for motorhomes up to seven metres. In the morning the first boats come from the water, otherwise it stays quiet above Simmerath. The sanitary block with washing-up facilities runs from April to November, after that only self-sufficient campers stay here. Electricity is limited – those who need it should register early.1

What VanSite writes

„Our campsite offers 13 pitches on approximately 530 sqm. Each pitch is 5 m wide and between 8 m and 10 m long. The campsite is situated slightly elevated directly on Woffelsbacher Bay, so all pitches offer a fantastic view of Lake Rur.“

Sights in the area1

Urftsee near Einruhr

The second large reservoir in the Eifel National Park, right behind the Rursee; from Einruhr the excursion boats set off that link the two lakes.

Struffelt Nature Reserve

A heath and moor ridge above the Rur valley with signposted loop trails; a short half-day walk that gives most in dry weather.

Aachen

The old imperial city with its cathedral and thermal springs, about 25 km away; the town day for when the weather turns at the lake.

Wolfsschlucht

A narrow, moss-green rock gorge in the Eifel, cool even at the height of summer; the shady hike for hot afternoons.
