Caravan pitch (Campspace 2938)
A motorhome parking area in a small village in the Sauerland, between Winterberg and Willingen. Fifteen pitches, open year-round. Snow covers the heights in winter, while summer remains quiet except for the wind sweeping across the ridges. Hiking trails from the area lead to Kahler Asten, at 841 meters the highest peak in the Rothaargebirge. It's not far to Willingen with its large ski jump. In the evening: darkness and peace.1

Sights in the area1
Kahler Asten
At 841 metres one of the highest peaks in the Sauerland; from the Asten tower the view reaches far across the uplands on a clear day. A summit for half a day.
Winterberg
The region's winter-sports town with a bobsleigh track and ski slopes; in summer the bike-park trails start here. The bad-weather plan when fog sits on the heights.
Willingen
Neighbouring village in the Upland with the Mühlenkopfschanze, one of the largest ski-jumping hills; the winter World Cup fills the whole place. Worth a look off-season too.
Rothaarsteig
The ridge trail across the heights of the Rothaargebirge can be walked in day stages; several access points lie around Winterberg. A hiking day without a drive.
