Mini Scandinavia - on the Hunte
A small meadow on the edge of a former tree nursery near Huntlosen, directly adjacent to the young fir plantation where next year's Christmas trees are growing. If you like, you can pitch your tent right among the firs. You'll always have the place to yourself here; in the evening, deer and raccoons pass by, and there's supposedly a beaver back in the Hunte. It's 250 metres to the river, with the Mittlere Hunte nature reserve right in the middle, featuring hiking trails and canoe landing spots. You'll need to bring your own toilet. There's groundwater from the tap and a shelter against the rain. Oldenburg is less than twenty kilometres away.1

The old residence town sits about 17 km north, with its palace and the Horst-Janssen-Museum. The town day for rainy weather, when the meadow turns too wet.
Wildeshauser Geest Nature Park
The large nature park around the middle Hunte, known for heath and glacial erratic boulders. A destination for long bike rides across flat country.
