Bernried

In the middle of Hirschpark Bayerischer Wald

A site near Bernried, high above the green Danube plain, where campers park directly on the meadow by the riding arena. Three spots to choose from. The wide view is shared with the herds: red deer and mouflon roam the pastures, around two hundred animals in total. In the morning, one might curiously peek through your window, always at a safe distance. Walking trails lead through the deer park, guided tours available upon request. On Fridays and Saturdays, there's celebration next door. The forest canopy walk is not far away.1

What Hinterland writes

„Right in the middle instead of just watching – that perfectly describes the location of this campsite in the Bavarian Forest. Here you park your camper directly at the riding arena on a spacious meadow.“

Sights in the area1

Waldwipfelweg

A treetop walkway in the Bavarian Forest, high among the crowns; the adjoining house stands upside down. The rainy-day classic for families.

Rißloch Falls

The Rißloch Falls near Bodenmais rank among the highest in the Bavarian Forest; the climb to the upper platform is best after the snowmelt.

Geißkopf

Above Bischofsmais, the Geißkopf is a bike park in summer and a small ski area in winter; from the top the view runs far into the forest.

Kötztinger Hütte

A staffed mountain hut on the Kaitersberg above Bad Kötzting, a fine goal for a day hike along the ridge, with a warm kitchen for a stop.
