County alpaca farm
A farm near Wietmarschen, between Emsland and Grafschaft Bentheim. Alpacas are bred here, and the animals shape the daily routine: in the morning, the paddock hums and rumbles with their sounds. If you like, you can go for walks with them – this can be arranged on the farm. The operation is small. Most guests drive to Lohner See for swimming, or to Lingen or Bad Bentheim for strolling around. The farm shop stocks wool from their own breeding, and from the end of September, the farm also sells pumpkins.1

Sights in the area1
Bentheim Castle
The large sandstone castle above Bad Bentheim is visible from far off; a walk around the castle courtyard fills half a day.
Lohner See
A bathing lake close to the farm, the obvious place to cool off in summer; bring a towel, there is little else going on.
Lingen
A town on the Ems with half-timbered houses around the market square. An afternoon covers the old town, the Ems cycle path leads back.
Osnabrück
About 62 kilometres away, old town and museums at the foot of the Teutoburg Forest; the trip that still works in steady rain.
