Campsite in Burgdorf
A private garden in Burgdorf where a tent can be pitched. Visitors arrive on foot or by bike. Motorhomes are not permitted. You must register in advance: The host owns only the rear of the two properties. The toilet can be arranged; otherwise, there are few rules here. Salzgitter is eleven kilometers away, as is the Bismarckturm overlooking the city and the Salzgittersee. In the evening, all that remains of the day is the chirping in the grass.1

Salzgitter’s swimming lake, eleven kilometres away; the western shore gets you to the water without a long walk. Made for a hot afternoon.
Bismarck Tower Salzgitter
A stone lookout tower above the town, built in the style of the Bismarck towers around 1900. From the top you see the flat country north of the Harz.
Teufelsmauer
A sandstone ridge in the northern Harz foreland with single rocks rising from it; the best known is called Hamburger Wappen. A day trip south.
Brocken Railway
A narrow-gauge steam train up the Brocken, the highest mountain in the Harz. Works as well in fog as it does on a clear day.
