Camping Sommerfrische on Retsee

A pitch in a weekend home settlement on the edge of Hoppegarten, directly on Retsee. The access road ends as a dead end, unpaved and without street lamps. No through traffic. From the lawn it's ten metres to the water, plus a hammock with lake views. At night the sky stays dark. One downside: there's no shower or toilet, only an outdoor solar shower and two water taps. The U5 from Hönow gets you to Alexanderplatz in 33 minutes.1

What roadsurfer spots writes

„Located on the outskirts of Berlin, you can relax on the Sommerfrische in a hammock with a lake view and experience a break in close contact with nature.

The property is part of a quiet weekend home settlement in a landscape protection area.“

Sights in the area1

Müggelsee

Berlin's largest lake, in the southeast of the city. Lido, forest paths along the shore and pleasure boats — the obvious swimming spot when the Retsee feels too small.

Brandenburg Gate

The landmark on Pariser Platz, reachable on the U5 from Hönow without changing. The must-see for a first day in the city.

Sanssouci Palace & Park

Rococo palace with a terraced vineyard garden in Potsdam. The park is freely accessible and fills a whole afternoon.

Berlin Wall Trail by the Teltow Canal

A section of the loop along the former border, flat and signposted. Good for a cycling day without steep climbs.
