Camping site in Schwanewede
A large garden in Schwanewede that the host shares with tent campers. Behind the tent area is a goat pasture; in the mornings there's bleating long before anyone unzips their tent. Tents only. Guests are welcome to use the toilet and shower, but the host doesn't reveal much more than that. It's about 14 kilometers to Bremen, to the Roland and Town Hall at the Markt and further into the Schnoorviertel with its narrow alleyways. Back in the garden, the goats are there again.1

Sights in the area1
Town Hall & Roland
Bremen's Gothic town hall and the Roland statue on the market square are World Heritage; a walk around the outside takes half an hour, about 14 kilometres from the site.
Schnoor Quarter
Bremen's oldest quarter, half-timbered lanes so narrow two people can barely walk side by side. The rainy-day classic, since the distances between houses stay short.
Bremen Town Musicians
The bronze figures on the west side of the town hall, donkey below, rooster on top. Hold the donkey's front legs and you get a wish, they say; five minutes from the Roland.
Lemwerder-Vegesack Ferry
The small Weser ferry shuttles between Vegesack and Lemwerder. A few minutes across the river, usually the highlight of the day for kids and a shortcut for cyclists.
